Privacy Policy
The DoC ("we", "us", "our") connects customers with vetted local cleaners. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
1. Who we are
The DoC (Department of Clean), operated from the United Kingdom. Contact: letscleanup@the-doc.co.uk.
2. What we collect
Customers: name, email, phone number, postcode and property details, the services you request, your bookings and reviews, and payment information (processed by Stripe — we do not store card numbers).
Cleaners: name and business details, contact details, base location, services offered, identity-verification results, insurance documents you upload, ratings, completed jobs, and subscription/payment information (via Stripe).
Everyone: limited technical data needed to run the site (e.g. your login session). We do not currently run advertising or analytics trackers; if we add them, we'll ask for your consent first via the cookie banner.
3. Why we use it (and our legal basis)
- To provide the service — matching customers with cleaners, taking the £5 booking fee, managing cleaner memberships (legal basis: performance of a contract).
- To connect the two sides — once a booking is paid, we share the customer's contact details with the matched cleaner so they can arrange the job (legal basis: contract / legitimate interest).
- To keep the platform safe & trusted — verifying cleaner identity and insurance (legal basis: legitimate interest).
- To contact you — booking confirmations, lead notifications, service updates (legal basis: contract / legitimate interest).
4. Who we share it with
- Matched cleaners receive the customer's contact details after a booking is paid, solely to carry out the job.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Supabase — secure database & authentication hosting.
- We never sell your personal data.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, then for a reasonable period to meet legal, accounting and dispute-resolution requirements. You can request deletion at any time (see below).
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your data, and to data portability. Cleaners can export all of their data at any time from within the Pro Rota app. To exercise any right, email letscleanup@the-doc.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
7. Cookies
We use essential cookies/storage needed to log you in and run the site — these don't require consent. If we add analytics or advertising cookies, the cookie banner will let you accept or decline them, and we won't load them until you choose.
8. Changes
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date shows when. Material changes will be notified where appropriate.
