Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of The DoC. By using the platform you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What The DoC is
The DoC is an introduction platform: we connect customers with independent, vetted local cleaners. The cleaning service itself is a contract between you and the cleaner. The DoC is not the cleaner, does not employ cleaners, and does not perform the cleaning.
2. Bookings & the £5 fee
Customers pay a £5 booking fee to confirm a request and be matched with a cleaner. If no cleaner accepts your job, the £5 is refunded in full. The £5 is the only fee we charge customers — you pay the cleaner directly, at their agreed price, for the cleaning itself.
3. Cleaner membership
Cleaners pay a monthly membership (currently £5/month founding rate for the first 25 cleaners, then £9.99/month) to receive matched leads and use the Pro Rota app. Membership renews monthly and can be cancelled at any time; cancellation stops future leads and access at the end of the paid period.
4. Vetting & trust
We take reasonable steps to verify cleaner identity and to display insurance and rating information. However, we do not guarantee the quality, conduct, or outcome of any cleaning, and cleaners are independent contractors responsible for their own work, tax, and compliance. Choose your cleaner using the ratings, reviews and badges provided.
5. Payments
Booking fees and memberships are processed securely by Stripe. Payment for the cleaning work is arranged directly between customer and cleaner.
6. Reviews
Customers may review a cleaner after a completed job. Reviews must be honest and not abusive, defamatory or misleading. We may remove reviews that breach these rules.
7. Refunds & cancellations
The £5 booking fee is refunded if no cleaner accepts. Once a cleaner has accepted, cancellations and any related charges for the cleaning work are a matter between you and the cleaner. Membership fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law.
8. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the platform: no fraud, no harassment, no attempts to circumvent fees, no false information. We may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms.
9. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The DoC's liability is limited to the fees you have paid us. We are not liable for the acts, omissions or quality of work of independent cleaners. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
